I’ve been evangelizing The Wave Pictures since I first heard them this past winter. They’re a taut, garagey, folky outfit from the UK singing surreal and strangely poignant relationship songs. Think The Kinks, The Smiths, some of those early K Records bands like Beat Happening, The Modern Lovers, and up n’ coming Brooklyn band The Wowz. I don’t think that their music is available by any legal digital means in the U.S. but you can hear some of their songs at their myspage page. I hope they pay us a visit in the States sometime soon.
